Providing a wide range of domestic and international flight connections, the Genoa International Airportserves as the main gateway to Italy’s Liguria Province, thus allowing easy access to Portofino. The Genoa International Airport is located approximately 37 kilometres from the Portofino city centre.

Airlines such as Alitalia, Air France and Lufthansa provide international flights and the domestic airlines include Air Dolomiti, Air Alps, AirOne, AirVallee, Albatros, Hlx, Ryanair and Transavia. The international flights are provided to destinations such as Cologne, Amsterdam, Bonn and London Stansted.

By Car

When arriving by car, travellers should reserve parking spaces prior to arrival at Portofino. Car parking can be expensive during heavy traffic hours and in road-front areas.

The main road, Motorway A12, leads the way to Exit Rapallo, which in turn leads to Portofino via Santa Margherita.

Rental cars and limousines can be hired from the hotel where you are a guest. Some hotels even offer courtesy shuttle bus services for their guests.

By Train

Trenitalia is the main railway transport provider in Italy. It provides a railway station at Rapallo, about eight kilometres from Portofino, where travellers can travel to and from Milan, Rome and Florence. From Rapallo, a taxi must be hired for transport.

By Bus

Bus service is provided by AMT (Azienda Mobilita’e Transporti). The bus service is regular and reliable, providing a convenient travelling option.

By Taxi

As always, travelling by taxi could be very expensive, but the ride is generally worth the money you pay for it. Comfortable and convenient, taxis can be hailed from the railway station, airport, bus stand or roadside. Most Portofino hotels also arrange for taxi transportation upon request.
