Heidelberg Dress Code
For business meetings, both men and women wear suits. Casual clothes, including jeans, are acceptable for sightseeing and informal dining, but in the more exclusive restaurants and bars men will be expected to wear a jacket and tie. Generally, German women tend to dress up rather than down, so for social functions it is preferable to choose more formal clothing.
Greeting Someone in Heidelberg
German's appreciate punctuality and it is best to be on time for a meeting or social function, although arriving up to 15 minutes late will be acceptable. ‘Du' is used when talking to children up to adolescence and ‘sie' for everyone older. It is polite to use titles (such as ‘Herr' or ‘Frau') with surnames rather than first names, but avoid using ‘fraulein' even for an unmarried woman.
