Brisbane - Airports

Brisbane Airport (BNE)

Brisbane is simple to reach by air from most international airports throughout the world, including those in Asia, Europe, Pacific Islands, North America, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.

Brisbane International Airport (BNE) is situated about 13 kilometres from Brisbane city centre with a domestic terminal located 17 kilometres away. Brisbane Airport, owned by the Brisbane Airport Corporation, and located northeast of the city, is the busiest and largest airport in the state. Separated into two terminal facilities with frequent domestic and international passenger and freight flights, it provides direct flights to every capital city in Australia, as well as many destinations in USA, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

The second largest airline in Australia, Virgin Blue Airlines, is headquartered in Brisbane, while other major airlines including Qantas and Jetstar fly from Brisbane Airport.

Brisbane Airport (BNE) Terminals

Brisbane Airport (BNE) features two separately located spacious airport terminals that serve many national and international airlines such as Qantas Airways, Virgin Blue, Cathay Pacific Airways, China Airlines, Eva Air, Garuda Indonesia, Japan Airlines, Korean Air, Malaysia Airlines, Royal Brunei Airlines and Singapore Airlines. An inter-terminal transfer bus service is available for both terminals and is operated by Airtrain.

Conference and business facilities are available at Brisbane Airport (BNE) for the corporate traveller. Facilities available at the International Terminal include meeting rooms that can accommodate up to 50 people, work stations, telephones, Internet access, fax machines, and spacious airline lounges.

Amongst the numerous amenities that Brisbane Airport (BNE) offers travellers are bureaux de change and travel insurance agents, 24-hour cash machines (ATMs) and postal facilities, restaurants, gift, souvenir and duty-free shops. Short-term and long-term parking is available directly outside both the International and Domestic terminals at Brisbane Airport (BNE). Also available at both terminals are car rental companies, special facilities for the physically challenged, a useful Visitor Information Centre, passenger information desks, a first aid room, baby care rooms, a prayer room, lost luggage facilities and showers. The International Terminal is a non-smoking area. An external balcony is provided for smokers.

Transportation

Ground transportation options available at Brisbane Airport (BNE) include train (Airtrain), hotel shuttle, bus (Ex Brisbane City), taxi and limousine. A number of shuttle bus companies provide a hotel door-to-door service between the airport and the Brisbane's Central Business District and suburban areas of Queensland.

Car

Central Brisbane is well signposted from Brisbane Airport (BNE) and the journey from into Brisbane city centre will take around 30 minutes, depending on traffic and the time of day. A dedicated access road provides good connections to both the airport's International Terminal and Domestic Terminal, with connections to the Gateway Motorway and Kingsford Smith Drive.

Train (Airtrain)

Brisbane Airport's popular Airtrain service provides regular trains that travel from the airport to Brisbane Central Station, in around 20 minutes. With connections to other areas of Brisbane and Queensland, the Airtrain network is one of the fastest and cheapest ways to travel to and from Brisbane Airport (BNE).

Buses

Regular buses are available from both terminals, travelling to the Brisbane Transit Centre in central Roma Street, the famous Gold Coast and the nearby Sunshine Coast. These airport buses regularly travel from the airport's Domestic and International Terminal buildings into central Brisbane and are a relatively fast way to travel to nearby the Brisbane city centre.

Taxicabs

There is a large number of airport taxis readily available at the airport and the airport's taxi ranks are located outside of the Domestic Terminal, close to both the Qantas area, Virgin Blue area and next to arrivals. These Brisbane Airport taxis offer a convenient way to travel into nearby Brisbane city and other destinations in the Queensland area. The journey from Brisbane Airport (BNE) into the centre of Brisbane will take just 25 minutes and official Brisbane airport taxis should always be used, to ensure both safety and also to avoid being overcharged. Taxis for disabled passengers can be arranged by assistance provided at the airport's arrival hall.

Limousines

There is a good selection of private car limousine companies available at Brisbane Airport (BNE). Located outside of the airport's terminal buildings, these airport limousines provide the perfect way to travel in style and can generally be leased per hour or per day. The airport Visitor Information Centre will provide the latest information about airport limousines.

Hotel Shuttle

A number of Brisbane hotels provide a convenient door-to-door courtesy shuttle bus service for their guests upon request.

Car Rental

Arrangements for self-drive car hire can be made from a service desk at both terminals.
