The Abbey Hotel sits in a prime location on the side of the beautiful Wye Valley. We are overlooking the ruins of the famous Tintern Abbey.
Parts of the building date back to 1206 when it was inside the original precinct wall of the Abbey, and some remaining arches in the Hotel have the same aspects as can be seen in the Abbey ruins. To keep pace with increasing visitor trade the Hotel was upgraded over the years until, in 2002, it was completely refurbished by its current owners, Robert Cook and David George. The Abbey Brassiere has been designed for all-day eating, from a wonderful breakfast selection to a candlelit dinner. The Abbey Hotel Bar is warm and relaxing for a traditional pint, a light lunch or a hearty evening meal or get-together with friends for sporting occasions on digital T/V. The lounge provides total calm for a quiet drink, snack or chat. The suite of function rooms, entrance foyer, Barbecue Garden and Terrace are perfect for any occasion, from a small boardroom meeting to a function serving 100 people. In fact the Abbey Hotel is fast becoming a prime venue for that most special occasion of all. The Abbey Hotel enjoys 3 star ratings from the Welsh Tourist Board and the AA. It also holds the prestigious Welcome Host Gold Award Hotel the only one in Monmouthshire. The hotel in march 2004 was Presented The Green Dragon Award for its work on Enviromental action. For business, leisure or tourism the Abbey Hotel is a delight for discerning people, who enjoy being spoiled. With 23 luxuriously appointed rooms, ample parking, the glorious views of the historic Abbey ruins and the delightful wooded Wye Valley, you’ll want to return again and again to the traditional country hotel with state-of-the art facilities.
