Albuquerque is an intriguing combination of old and new, where the glories of nature surround an exciting modern city. It was once a frontier community and there is still plenty of evidence of this in the Old Town where shops and galleries are housed in historic adobe buildings, set among patios and winding paths. The area is considered to be Albuquerque's soul, at the hub of its history, culture and community life.

This is also a highly cosmopolitan city boasting diverse cultures and cuisines, pursuits and panoramas. There are plenty of museums and galleries to visit if you want to stay in town, but a drive along the Crest National Scenic Byway to the summit of the Sandia Mountains is extremely picturesque, as is the breathtaking scenery found in places like the Petroglyph National Monument and Coronado State Monument. You can even walk along the cottonwood-lined river at the Rio Grande Nature Centre, where two miles of trails wind through wooded areas to the sandy banks of the Rio Grande River.
