Jerusalem is one of the most renowned cities in the world, standing as the cornerstone of the Jewish religion since the time of King David, a thousand years before Christ. Today, it lives a triple existence as the spiritual centre of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Here the visitor can visit the sprawling Church of the Holy Sepulchre, where Jesus was crucified and entombed and which is the holiest church in Christendom, or the Western Wall, Judaism's holiest site. But there is more to Jerusalem than its long history. Sadly, the city is divided into two parts, separated by what is termed 'The Green Line'; Israel holds the west and Jordan occupies the east.
