The hotel originally opened it's doors in the 17th cent. Today we offer a variety of rooms in the Peak District. Ideal for the peak district, walking, alton towers, buton, bakewell, chatsworth House, cycle trails and Derbyshire.

All rooms are en-suite and have colour television, tea and coffee making facilities, direct dial telephone. Nestling in the historic village of Hartington, originally recorded in the Doomsday Book as Harteoum, you will discover the charm of The Charles Cotton Hotel, named after the 17th Century poet and co-author with Izaak Walton of The Complete Angler. At The Charles Cotton Hotel, we assure you of a relaxed informal atmosphere coupled with good food and warm hospitality. Our cosy restaurant is open every evening serving a selection of two table d'hote menus. The menus change daily and offer a selection of imaginative cuisine which is prepared and cooked on the premises using the best ingredients available. The Charles Cotton Hotels bar offers a warm welcome. Come and relax in our traditional bar with its olde worlde character and charm. In winter months our real coal fire is an attractive feature. The Charles Cotton Hotel welcomes pets and the following facilities are available:- Special dog friendly bedrooms. Good walks from the hotel to exercise your dog. Dog food available if required. All meals including breakfast can be served in the bar so your pets can join you. Dog walking service:- if you're going out for the day, and your dog is not welcome, you can leave him/her in you're room and we will walk him/her for you.
