Taipei is a hectic, crowded and sometimes smoggy city, with plenty of attractions including museums, parks and Chinese theatres to tempt you. The Taiwanese consider themselves the guardians of pre-Revolutionary Chinese culture. This is highlighted at the Metropolitan Museum of Art where 700,000 artefacts are kept, though only 15,000 are displayed at any one time. The best parks to visit are outside of the city where you can enjoy hot springs and climbing or walking in the fresh air.
