Perth Transportation
If heading to Perth from the cluster of settlements on the eastern side of Australia, be sure to keep in mind the distance of journey before deciding on a method of transport. There are good rail and road links to Perth with many coach companies serving the city. In addition, Perth International Airport links the city to other Australian destinations and the wider world.
Arriving by Air
Perth International Airport (PER) is located 8 miles (13 kilometers) northeast of Perth city centre. There are two terminals at PER: one international and one domestic.
Arriving by Car
Due to Perth's situation as the most isolated from the other major cities and the only major city in Western Australia, it is not advisable to attemp the journey by car without being practically, mechanically, physically and mentally prepared for what is a laborious journey. However, from the east, the Eyre Highway crooses the country to Norseman in Western Australia. From Norseman, the Coolgardie-Esperance Highway laeds to Coolgardie and this intersects with the Great Eastern Highway that leads into Perth.
Getting Around Perth
Perth is a reasonable city to drive in but can get busy, especially during peak hours. Fortunately, there is an excellent public transport network in the city that includes the convenient Metrobus system.
