From Sydney Airport: 12 km - 30 minutes by car
From the closest railway station (Wynyard): 1.5 km - 7 minutes' walk
From the Overseas Passenger Terminal: 1.5 km - 7 minutes' walk
From the ferry terminal: 2 km - 10 minutes' walk

Shuttle bus service
The price from/to the airport is approximately AUD$9.00 one way.

Transfers to the CBD
A complimentary luxury vehicle drop-off service is available to all in-house guests between the hours of 7:00 am and 10:00 am, Monday to Friday, from The Observatory Hotel to anywhere within the central business district.

Directions:
From Kingsford Smith Airport to The Observatory Hotel:

  • Depart the terminal and turn right onto Airport Drive. Travel along Qantas Drive onto Joyce Drive and then onto General Holmes Drive
  • Turn left onto Mill Pond Road
  • Travel onto Southern Cross Drive. Travel along this drive for around five minutes
  • Veer into the right lanes on South Dowling Street before entering the Eastern Distributor
  • Travel along the Eastern Distributor for five minutes looking for the City North Exit
  • Take City North Exit (Toll of $4.00 will need to be paid)
  • Turn right onto Macquarie Street
  • Turn left onto Bridge St and follow this road until you reach George Street
  • Turn right onto George Street and left up the hill to Grosvenor Street
  • Turn left onto York Street at the top of the hill
  • Take the first right into Jamison Street and then turn right into Clarence Street
  • Stay to the left and turn right onto Kent Street (This is signposted. Be aware as if you miss this exit you will travel over the Harbour Bridge)

Travel 300 meters down Kent Street. The Observatory Hotel is on the left, opposite the Miller's Point Tennis Court.



ACCOMMODATION

Spacious, elegant, beautifully appointed, the rooms and suites at The Observatory Hotel are designed to meet the needs of the most fastidious guest.

The hotel offers 78 deluxe rooms, 9 Junior Suites, 12 Executive Suites and the Observatory Suite, with some suites and rooms interconnecting. Three ground-floor rooms have been adapted for the convenience of disabled guests. The second floor, which is completely non-smoking, features duvets in each bedroom.

Bathrooms feature heated towel rails and separate showers, and every room has touch-control air conditioning, as well as sash windows to allow cool harbour breezes to circulate. Each room has detachable hairdryers, CD and video players (a wide selection of CDs is available from the CD Library), international news service and movies on demand, as well as fax/modem facilities, voice mail and four telephones.

The Observatory Hotel is renowned for its fine cuisine, ranging from elegant dining in the Galileo Restaurant to the light menu in the club-like Globe Bar.

Opulently decorated with Fortuny fabrics and original art, Galileo Restaurant offers a fusion of French and Japanese cuisine from sought after Chef Harunobu Inukai.

The Globe Bar offers a selection of contemporary Australian dishes, ideal for a light lunch or post-theatre supper.
