Thessaloniki Dress Code
Under most circumstances in Thessaloniki, dress casually but well, being sure to make allowances for the hot climate. Bear in mind that some hotels and restaurants may require a shirt and tie to be worn. For business meetings, both men and women should dress smartly, suits for men, a smart trouser or skirt suit for women.
Greeting Someone in Thessaloniki
A handshake is the standard greeting in any international business environment, and should be done at the beginning and the end of any meeting in Thessaloniki. Outside business, this is also true, and bear in mind that questions about health and so on, which may be taken as simple formality, are meant more seriously in Greece than elsewhere.
Thessaloniki Business Hours and Banking
Greek office hours are generally between the hours of 08:00 to 14:30 pm, and later from 17:30 to 20:30, Monday to Friday. Banking hours are generally 08:00 to 14:00 Monday to Thursday and 08:00 to 13:30 on Friday. Some of the larger banks may open on Saturday morning also.
Thessaloniki Smoking
In Thessalonki, smoking is prohibited where notified and on public transport and in some public buildings. It is always advisable to take your cue from those around.
