Sydney Transportation
As you would perhaps expect for a city of Sydney's size and status, transport links into the area are very good. As well as the Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport, Sydney has excellent road and rail access.
Arriving by Air
Linking the city of Sydney with the wider world, Kingsford Smith Airport is located ten kilometres (six and a half miles) south of Sydney's city centre. The airport has four terminals in total: three Australian domestic terminals and one international terminal.
Arriving by Car
If driving from Brisbane, take the Pacific Highway (Highway 1) south to Sydney. If arriving from Melbourne or Canberra, the Hume Highway should be used to get to Sydney. The Princes Highway is also an option when travelling from Melbourne and the New South Wales south coast.
Getting Around Sydney
Sydney is a vast city that sprawls considerably further than the central downtown area. However, many of its key attractions are packed into a reasonably small area, making much of tourist Sydney explorable on foot. In addition, there is an excellent public transport network in the city centre that should be used in favour of driving.
