Singapore Dress Code
The dress code in Singapore is generally casual, with businessmen regularly wearing short-sleeved shirts, often without a tie, although business suits for both men and women are expected at first meetings, in the legal sector and for some restaurants. Loose clothing in natural fibres is preferable to combat the heat and humidity.
Greeting Someone in Singapore
A handshake, followed by an exchange of business cards, is the usual greeting in Singapore. Many in the commercial sector follow a relaxed Western approach to business, but a few traditionalists remain who will expect a show of deference on first meeting and will then return the courtesy. Punctuality is seen as a mark of respect to the host at business and social gatherings.
