Getting Around Santiago
Taxis are abundant in Santiago city centre, distinctive (yellow with black roofs) and inexpensive. Buses are also available, as are hire cars; however, be aware that the traffic can be very busy in the city centre. There are also certain restrictions on which part of the city you can drive through, depending on your licence plate number, which can be confusing to the non-local. There is a subway that runs from east to west and north to south in the city as well as buses and taxis.
