When to Visit - Arts and Events
Redondo Beach offers the fantastic opportunity to go whale watching during the winter months as the Pacific Grey whales' annual migration brings them close to the shoreline. Sharks, dolphins and sea lions can also be seen.
Redondo Beach Dining
Excellent restaurants with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean are dotted all along the Harbor, Pier and Broadwalk. The choice is endless, with cuisine ranging from Thai and Mexican, to French and Middle Eastern. Not surprisingly seafood is a specialty, practically all types of fresh fish, shellfish and even sushi are available. Desserts are rich and indulgent, such as mile-high chocolate cake, apple pie with caramel sauce and delicious cheesecakes. Californian wines are increasingly popular and now rival many of the European vintages.
Redondo Beach Tipping Advice
Tipping is more or less compulsory. It is customary to tip restaurant staff, taxi drivers and hairdressers between 10 and 20 percent. Bellboys and porters expect about one or two US dollars per piece of luggage. You are not expected to tip in fast-food restaurants or cinemas.
