Phoenix Dress Code
The desert sun of the Basin and Range Region is very intense throughout the year and so it's absolutely essential to have some form of cover, protective clothing and/or sunscreen if you are going to be spending time outdoors. The dry heat can cause dehydration, so it is important to drink at least eight glasses of water a day. In winter it's advisable to pack something warm to wear, especially if you intend to dine out 'patio-style'.
Greeting Someone in Phoenix
Phoenix is one of America's most popular regions in which to retire, so people are perhaps used to a slightly more laid-back approach. A relaxed handshake and first-name terms are the order of the day, although company accreditation in the form of a businesscard is always a good idea if you're there to work.
Phoenix Business Hours and Banking
As with all major cities, Phoenix's business hours vary from one industry and sector to another but in general, most office environments operate between 09.00 and 17.30, Monday to Friday. Banks tend to be open between 09.00 and 15.00, Monday to Friday with some staying open to 17.30 or 18.00 one day a week. Some of the larger banks will probably also be open on Saturday mornings.
Phoenix Smoking
Smoking is the subject of much controversy in the United States. If you are a smoker, exercise discretion and sensitivity when choosing to smoke, as many Americans cannot tolerate people smoking in front of them. The best advice is to only smoke in like-minded company.
