When to Visit - Arts and Events
Originally the Myrtle Beach area was home to the "Waccamaaw" and "Winyah" Native American tribes and their history is well worth discovering. Horry County museum has excellent displays about their lifestyle and traditions, whilst excavations near Murrells Inlet and Little River provide a fascinating opportunity to explore an Indian village and burial mound.
Myrtle Beach Dining
Spectacular views, delicious food and a choice of over 1800 restaurants make eating out in Myrtle Beach a memorable experience. Italian, French, Mexican and Japanese are just some of the cuisine that the city has to offer. Visitors can choose between steakhouses, themed diners and candlelit gourmet restaurants. Seafood is undoubtedly the specialty in Myrtle Beach, whether served at exclusive restaurants or "all you can eat" buffets. The fresh lobster, shrimps and oysters are particularly excellent and seafood creole made with tomatoes, herbs and peppers is well worth trying.
Myrtle Beach Tipping Advice
In the United States tipping is more or less expected. It is customary to tip restaurant staff, taxi drivers and hairdressers between 10 and 20 percent. Porters and bellboys are usually tipped by one or two USD per piece of luggage. It is not necessary to tip in fast-food restaurants or cinemas.
