Montréal Dress Code
Managers and executives are expected to dress conventionally in Montreal. Generally, men will be expected to wear a business suit and tie, and women a suit or a conventional dress. Business dress may be less formal on Fridays. Outside the business environment, casual clothes are acceptable, except in some restaurants and hotel lounges where formal dress is requested.
Greeting Someone in Montréal
Most people in Montreal address each other by their first names and greet each other with a handshake. On some occasions, such as business meetings and formal functions, it is expected to use a person's title and last name.
Montréal Business Hours and Banking
Business hours in Canadian cities vary from one industry and sector to another but in general, most office environments operate between 09:00 and 17:30, Monday to Friday. The majority of banks are open between 10:00 and 15:00, Monday to Friday with some occasionally staying open later.
Montréal Smoking
An issue that is traditionally one of great controversy in North America, smokers are warned to be very careful when choosing a place to light up as most public places have banned smoking altogether. The best advice is to smoke only in like-minded company.
