In May, of course, Louisville becomes obsessed with the world-famous Kentucky Derby. Louisville Dining
With over 2500 restaurants, Louisville has something to suit everyone's tastes and offers a wide choice of bustling cafes, fast-food joints and gourmet restaurants. Cuisine ranges from Mexican and Cajun to Spanish and Japanese. Kentucky's most famous dish, Kentucky Fried Chicken, is as popular as ever with both visitors and residents alike. Other specialties include "country ham", a strongly flavored, cured ham served with crunchy biscuits and delicious Kentucky-style barbecued meats. A fine glass of Bourbon from one of the local distilleries is an excellent way to relax and round off a meal.
Louisville Tipping Advice
In the United States tipping is more or less expected. It is customary to tip restaurant staff, taxi drivers and hairdressers between 10 and 20 percent. It is standard practice to tip porters and bellboys one or two US dollars per piece of luggage. It is not necessary to tip in fast-food restaurants or cinemas.
