Johannesburg Airport Information
Johannesburg - Johannesburg International Airport
Located 24 kilometres (15 miles) northeast of the city, Johannesburg International Airport (JIA/JNB) is the air transport hub and tourism gateway of Southern Africa, catering to over 11 million passengers from 53 airlines each year. The airport has six closely connected terminals serving domestic and international air traffic, with ample short and long-term parking facilities.
Johannesburg Airport has six terminals housed in one building. Terminals 1 and 2 are for international arrivals. Terminal 3 handles South African Airways (SAA) and SA Express domestic arrivals and Terminal 4 handles non-SAA domestic arrivals. Terminal 5 is the domestic departure area for all airlines and Terminal 6 is the international departures area.
Johannesburg Airport is served by the ten car rental agencies. All the car rental kiosks are located in the Domestic Arrivals public concourse with a golf cart shuttle service operating to the parking area. If traveling away from the central business districts of Johannesburg, it is advisable to choose a mid-range vehicle rather than a luxury model.
Johannesburg Airport has one underground, one multi-storey and four ground-level car parks, mostly located close to the terminal building. Shuttle bus and golf cart services operate between the more remote parking areas every five to six minutes.
