Jaipur Transportation
Jaipur, the ‘Pink City’, is situated in the eastern part of the Rajasthan state. The connecting border districts of Jaipur include Sikar, Alwar,Tonk, Ajmer, Sawai, Nagaur, Bharatpur and Dausa. The closest major city to Jaipur is Agra, which is 246 kilometres from the Jaipur City.
Jaipur is well-connected via air, motor roads and railways. The air services are regular, though somewhat delayed at times, and buses and trains provide considerably cheap modes of transportation. In addition to these, travellers can hire a taxi or auto rickshaw for a price slightly above the public transportation rates.
By Air
Jaipur has a domestic airport providing flights to New Delhi and Mumbai as well as to several other cities with domestic airports. Airlines operating from Jaipur Airport are Indian Airlines, Jet Airways and Sahara Airlines. The Jaipur Airport is about 15 kilometres from the Jaipur City and the distance between the city and the airport takes 25 minutes to travel.
By Rail
The railroads of India are well-connected with all of the major cities. The Jaipur-Delhi railway is the best way to travel between Jaipur and Delhi, as it takes a minimal four hours for the journey. Other scheduled trains are also available to travel to most destinations within and outside Jaipur. For those tourists looking for an elegant way of travelling, the Delhi-Jaipur ‘Palace on Wheels’ is available.
