Edinburgh Transportation
Edinburgh Airport is at Turnhouse, a short distance from the city centre. The airport serves many European countries with an ever-increasing number of flights. However, most visitors arriving in the United Kingdom fly to Heathrow, Gatwick or Manchester where internal flights to Edinburgh are frequent. There is also an extensive rail service to and from Edinburgh with connections from every major UK city. Overnight sleeper trains run regularly from London and the south of England.
Arriving by Air

Getting Around Edinburgh
Whilst the compact nature of the city makes it a perfect place to explore on foot, there are a number of transport options: inexpensive taxis, an extensive bus service, horse-drawn carriages for a novel approach to sightseeing, open-topped buses and boats travelling up and down as well as across Edinburgh's famous Firth of Forth River. One of the most thrilling ways to see the city is to take the train from Waverly station, across the immense Forth Bridge to Burnt Island on the other side of the river. The views are spectacular.
