Time Off
Situated on Lake Erie, Cleveland is a city with impressive turn-of-the-century architecture, beautiful gardens and lakefront parks, beaches and piers. The Warehouse District, listed in the National Register of Historic Places, includes some of the city's oldest architecture and is home to a variety of galleries, restaurants and shops. Cleveland has a rich cultural tradition, celebrating over 100 festivals each year and many diverse museums such as the NASA John H.Glenn Research Center, Great Lakes Science Center and the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame; incidentally, the term rock 'n' roll was popularised by Cleveland DJ, Alan Freed. A number of zoos, wildlife parks and cultural gardens lie within a few miles of the city center, whilst fishing, boating and water-sports can all be enjoyed on Lake Erie, with skiing at Alpine Valley, just 18 miles (29 kilometers) east of the city.
