Each summer, Charlotte hosts North Carolina's State Theater and the Flat Rock Playhouse. This is the oldest professional summer theater in the State and the Vagabond Players are rated as one of the best summer theater companies in the country. Charlotte is also home to some fine museums and theatres that are must-see attractions for the culture seeking visitor.

The people of Charlotte take a lot of pride in the quality, variety and style of their restaurants. Traditional Southern dishes such as potato pie, fried okra and buttered lima beans or "Carolina Barbeque" go side by side with Belgian seafood, such as waterzooi (a creamy fish stew) and fabulous deserts such as chocolate ganache tortes. Charlotte is a city more concerned with decadent and hedonistic enjoyment than dieting, which makes a visit all the more pleasurable.

Charlotte Tipping Advice

Throughout America tipping is more or less compulsory. In restaurants waiters expect around 10 to 20 percent, as do taxi drivers and hairdressers, while porters and bellboys anticipate around one or two US dollars per piece of luggage. You are not expected to tip in fast-food restaurants or cinemas.
