Charleston Dress Code
Business dress has become more informal especially on Fridays, but generally suits are expected for both men and women. Outside of business, casual clothes are acceptable in most situations apart from some restaurants and hotel lounges.

Charleston is a friendly city with greetings being generally informal. Most people address each other by their first names and greet each other with a handshake. Although on some occasions, such as business meetings and formal functions, it is expected to use a person's title and last name.
Charleston Business Hours and Banking
As the case in most cities, Charlestone's hours of business tend to vary from one industry to another but in general, most office environments work between 09.00 and 17.30, Monday to Friday. Most banks are open between 09.00 and 15.00, Monday to Friday with some staying open to 17.30 or 18.00 one day a week. Some of the larger banks will probably also be open on Saturday mornings.

Smokers are warned to be very careful when choosing a place to light up in South Carolina as a large number of public places have banned smoking altogether. Some Americans have a zero tolerance attitute towards cigarettes so the best advice is to smoke only in like-minded company.
