Bristol Dress Code

The general dress code for visitors to Bristol will be much the same smart and casual mix expected in most other European cities. As Bristol is one of Britain's leading cosmopolitan centres when it comes to fashion, be aware that a night out on the town will bring you face to face with the very latest in trend-setting design. Visitors might also wish to keep the changeable climate in mind when choosing their wardrobe.

Greeting Someone in Bristol

Bristol is considered to be one of the trendiest, most laid-back cities in Britain. An informal handshake and the use of first names is the usual Bristolian greeting, although at business meetings and formal functions it may be expected to use a person's title and last name.

Bristol Business Hours and Banking

Business hours in the United Kingdom vary from one industry and sector to another but in general, most office environments will operate between 09:00 and 17:00, Monday to Friday. The majority of banks are open between 09:00 and 16:00, Monday to Friday, with some of the larger banks probably also open on Saturday mornings.

Bristol Smoking

The British have neither a positive nor negative attitude towards smoking. Some restaurants may have a 'no smoking' policy but most tend to have areas catering both for those who want to smoke and those who do not. As far as social etiquette is concerned, although the issue is far less important than it is in the United States, it is still best to smoke in like-minded company.
