Guglielmo Marconi Airport is situated six kilometres (four miles) north-east of the Bologna city centre. For greater efficiency, it operates two terminals (A and B). Both terminals are connected by an airport bus that runs every 15 minutes. The airport serves many international carriers such as Aer Lingus, Air One, Air Alps Aviation, Air France, Alitalia, British Airways, EasyJet, KLM Dutch Airlines, Lufthansa, MALEV and Meridiana. In general, flying into Bologna, Italy tends to be a relatively hassle-free experience.

The Bologna (Guglielmo Marconi) International Airport (BLQ) caters to international and domestic flights. The airport has two large terminal buildings connected by regular courtesy shuttle bus services. Guglielmo Marconi Airport also offers travellers a variety of other ground transportation options such as airport trains, taxis and mini buses.
Business and conference facilities at the Guglielmo Marconi Airport include spacious VIP lounges, high-speed Internet access, telephones, fax machines, international newspapers and basic office equipment.
Bologna's popularity as a convention town is mainly because of the considerable number of Bologna hotels and motels, especially within easy reach of the airport such as the Bologna Sheraton Hotel, located adjacent to Bologna airport and offers regular courtesy shuttle buses.
Two information desks are located in the Departures area of both terminals. A flight information board is located in Terminal 'A' Departures, and a total of 96 screens are located throughout the airport which provide up-to-the-minute flight information for passenger convenience.
A lost luggage counter, banking facilities, ATMs, bureaux de change and a post office can be found on the ground and 1st floor of Terminal A. Restaurants and bars, duty free shops, tobacconists and newsagents are located in both terminals.
Baby-changing facilities are available in all ladies toilets, and help-phones are on hand for assistance with children. A play area for children is located in the self-service and restaurant area on the 2nd floor of Terminal A. Bags and identification tags can be obtained at check-in desks for taking pushchairs on board the aircraft.
Special facilities for the physically-challenged passengers include specifically designed toilets, oxygen therapy apparatus, medical assistance staff, and accessible phones. These help-phones can be used to request wheelchairs or assistance from airport staff. The airport also has 40 allocated parking spaces for the passengers with special needs.

Taxicabs and car rentals - Car rental arrangements can be made at the airport in a hassle-free manner. There are usually plenty of authorised taxis lined up by the main arrivals area of both terminals and the fares are quite reasonable. A taxicab ride from the airport into the city is relatively quick, passengers are advised to take the Tangenziale Road (bypass), and depending on traffic this journey can take as little as ten minutes.
Train - The Bologna central railway station is located about six kilometres (four miles) outside the airport, and has connections to all major destinations across Italy and Europe. The station can be reached via a 20 minute’s drive by Aerobus, which leaves the airport every 15 minutes.
Buses - Regular buses are readily available and travel to and from the airport, stopping at the centre of Bologna. The Aerobus is an inexpensive way to travel and takes about 20 minutes. Fares can be purchased on the bus.
Forli Airport
Located 60 kilometres (37 miles) south-east from the town centre, Forlì Airport is Bologna's smaller airport and is served by many airlines, including Ryanair, Italy First, Wind Jet, Aeroflot-Don and Air Ukraine. Forlì Airport is situated six kilometres (four miles) from the A14 motorway exit and this fast road has good connections to Bologna and also Rimini, Milan and Rome. The town of Forlì is located nearby and there is a regular bus service linking the town and the railway station.
