Bilbao Travel Tips
Bilbao Dining
One of Spain’s best options for food lovers, Bilbao is home to a variety of restaurants offering a diverse and appealing choice of cuisine. Although some restaurants encourage men to wear jackets when dining, most eateries in Bilbao welcome guests in smart-casual attire. Using cutlery or using ones fingers depends entirely on the kind of meal and personal choice.
Tipping Advice
Even though service charges and taxes are included in hotel bills, an additional tip for the chambermaid is always appreciated. Porters expect to be tipped per large bag they handle. In restaurants, the bill usually includes a service charge - therefore tipping the waiter is discretional. When travelling in a metred taxi, a tip of 10% to 15% of the charge is expected.
Visitor Essentials
Visas
Visitors to Bilbao require a valid passport. Visas are not required by passport holders of several countries (as long as the stay is less than 90 days). Before visiting, please check if your country is among them. Others are advised to apply for visas prior to their visits.
