Bangkok Dress Code
Due to the sometimes high heat and humidity levels in Bangkok, casual clothes, preferably made from natural fibres that provide plenty of air circulation, are recommended. Businessmen, for example, commonly wear a short-sleeved shirt, with or without a tie.
Greeting Someone in Bangkok
People should be met with a handshake, followed by the exchange of business cards. Ensure that you look at the business card before putting it away, as this is good manners. Punctuality is essential for business and social meetings.
Bangkok Business Hours and Banking
Business hours are from 08:00 or 08:30 to 17:30, Monday to Friday. Some businesses may also be open on Saturdays between 08:30 and 12:00. Government offices are open from 08:30 to 16:30, Monday to Friday, with banks operating on weekdays from 09:30 to 15:30.
Bangkok Smoking
Most restaurants and public areas will cater for smokers and non-smokers alike. If in doubt about where to smoke, watch those around you.
