Bangalore Transpotation
Bangalore features a concentration of multinational companies and is rapidly developing as one of India's premier commercial centres. Well connected to other major cities in the country, Bangalore also provides a convenient gateway to the south of India.
The Bangalore Airport, located within very close proximity to the city centre, is served by most domestic carriers flying to major cities throughout the country. A few international airlines also fly in to the city.
Bangalore City and Bangalore Cant are the two railway stations in the city, and trains operate to most cities, although journeys to the north of India are time consuming. Rajdhani Express and other high-speed trains are available from the recently launched Konkan railway.
A good network of roads connects the rest of the cities of Karnataka with its capital city, Bangalore. The city's well-maintained bus terminus serves both private and state operated bus services. The Bangalore Transport Service (BTS), special 'pushpak' buses, the Suburban bus service that provides short distance transportation and the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus service that provides services within and outside the state, are some of the bus services available in Bangalore.
Taxis and auto rickshaws are also available for transport within the city of Bangalore, but tourists are advised to insist upon the usage of meters. Travellers can also hire a car and a chauffeur at a slightly higher price. The Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation and several other authorised travel agencies conduct sightseeing tours of Bangalore.
