Auckland Airport Information
Auckland - Auckland International Airport
Auckland International Airport (AKL) is located 21 kilometres (13 miles) south-west of the city centre. The busiest airport in New Zealand, it serves the country's largest city, with domestic and international airlines offering hundreds of flights every day.
Jean Batten International Terminal is the principal building. Excellent passenger facilities include currency exchange offices, ATMs (cash machines), conference rooms, business services and Internet kiosks. Shopping arcades, an entertainment centre and cafes and bars provide all of the services expected of an international airport. Auckland International Airport has adopted the 'quiet airport' concept and flights are not usually announced, passengers obtaining all necessary information from electronic screens or help desks. Two domestic terminals are linked to the international terminal by covered walkway and also offer a wide range of services.
For those looking to rent a car on arrival in Auckland, Auckland International Airport has several car rental companies to choose from. These include Avis, Budget, Hertz, Maui, ACE and ARF.
Auckland International Airport has several car parking options for visitors. The main public car park is in front of the International Terminal, aimed at those looking for short-term parking; nearby is a long-term car park, one part of which is a covered, secure area. In the forecourt area and the car parks, spaces are designated for those drivers with disabled permits; and there are also spaces for expectant mothers and parents or guardians with infants. Valet parking is available.
