Alexandria - Dulles International Airport

Dulles International Airport (IAD) is 42 kilometres (26 miles) west of the city and takes between 45 minutes and one hour by road. At present, there are 43 airlines that use the airport, serving 80 cities within the United States and 28 international destinations. One of the busiest airports in America, over 20 million passengers used the airport in 2000.

The terminal buildings offer a wide variety of shops, eateries and services. These include bureaux de change, ATMs, visitor information, duty free, high street shops, renowned restaurants and bars. Special business service centres are located at the east and west ends of the upper level of the main terminal and are open daily from 07:00 to 21:00. They provide bureau de change facilities, fax, insurance, notary, photocopying, Internet, e-mail and other services.

There are excellent facilities for those who wish to hire a car on arrival, with Avis, Dollar and Hertz among the companies who operate at Dulles Airport. In addition, there are good car parking facilities at the airport, with long- and short-term parking, economy parking, valet parking and parking for disabled passengers available.
