Adelaide Transportation
Travelling to Adelaide can be very straightforward: the city has good road and rail connections with other Australian states as well as boasting an international airport.
Arriving by Air
The area is served by Adelaide Airport, an international airport with two terminals that is located just six kilometres (four miles) west of Adelaide city centre.
Arriving by Car
If driving from Melbourne, take Highway 1 in a north-westerly direction. The same road stretches across southern Australia to link Adelaide with Perth. However, before embarking on intercity journeys, drivers should bear in mind that distances between Australian cities can be huge.
Getting Around Adelaide
The Transit Bus costs approximately AUD 6.00 to reach the city centre from the airport, while a taxi will charge roughly AUD 20.00. The main part of the city is fairly flat and easily explored by foot although taxis are plentiful. There is a reasonably efficient bus service in Adelaide also. To reach Glenelg Beach you can catch a city tram from the centre of town.
